Jessica Alba - Into The Blue

After her rollicking success in “SIN CITY” Jessica Alba was chosen for “Into the Blue” which is a nail-biting thriller shot in the Bahamas where she had to do plenty of scuba diving for a period of four months in the shark-infested waters. The story revolves around the discovery of a legendary shipwreck by Samantha "Sam" Nicholson (the character played by Jessica), and her boyfriend Jared Cole (the character played by Paul Walker) and a couple of their friends. The thrill is provided by the rumor that this shipwreck contained gold worth millions of dollars.

Jessica was initially very excited about this project, little realizing that she would have to shoot in the cold and chilly weather and that too in waters where there were plenty of sharks. In spite of the presence of so many sharks, the director John Stockwell was adamant that no digital sharks would be used, as he wanted the authentic effect. Commenting on this situation Alba said that whenever any shark made an appearance the director would gather the artists in the middle and as such there would be big-sized sharks all around them all through the movie.

However, Alba feels that sharks are not very intelligent animals. She had been diving and moving in the waters donning a moist silvery suit and the shark mistook her head for a fish. Naturally it came towards her with its mouth open and she freaked out and pushed it away. The director assured her that this sort of thing was happening all the time to the doubles.

In spite of the sharks, Jessica enjoyed the scuba diving experience and says that she had to hold her breath for about 80 seconds. She also says that “Into the Blue” was a good shooting experience and a great opportunity for dating as apart from the women who were in their bathing suits there were many men in similar attire also!
