Jessica Alba Biography© Copyright JessicaAlbaWorld.com A marvelous actress with lots of sex appeal and with an ample measure of talent – that’s how Jessica Alba can aptly be described. She was born on April 28, 1981 at Pomona, California and started her acting career at the tender age of 12. She has not looked back since that time and now she is one of the leading ladies of movies as well as Television serials in Hollywood. Her family shifted to Biloxi, Mississippi when she was just an infant but after three years they moved to California. Being in the Air Force, her father was posted to Texas for a short while but eventually the whole family dug their roots in California. Ever since she was five years old, Jessica had nurtured the desire to become an actress and she longed for the day when her dreams would come true. After completing High School, Jessica started attending acting classes at the Atlantic Theater Company and did her graduation. Her first role was a short one when she appeared as Gail in the film “Camp Nowhere” but this role was the stepping stone to her illustrious career. She had only been hired for two weeks for this role but due to the departure of one of the leading ladies, her role got extended to two months. It took only a few more days for her to get two National TV commercials for Nintendo and J.C.Penny and from there her acting career started in full steam as she signed many independent films. In 1994, she was selected for the role of a young snob whose mission was to make life difficult for the lead character that was played by Larisa Oleynik in Nickelodeon's popular comedy series "The Secret World of Alex Mack”. This was her first foray in the world of Television and her next assignment was to perform the role of Maya in the TV series Flipper for the first two seasons. She enjoyed doing this show as she could play with dolphins, being a PADI-certified scuba diver and an excellent swimmer. She acted in this show from 1995 to 1997. However, in 1995 she also acted in the film Venus Rising as Young Eve. She also appeared on the "The Dini Petty Show" (1989), a Canadian talk show in 1997. The Simon Bochco crime-drama Brooklyn South was her next venture in which she appeared as Melissa Hauer in 1998. She was also a part of Beverly Hills 90210 for two episodes appearing as Leanne and in an episode of The Love Boat: The Next Wave, she portrayed Layla. The high point of her career came with her appearance in the February 1999 issue of “Vanity Fair”. 1999 saw her acting in the films Never Been Kissed and Idle Hands. Her talent was finally highly appreciated when she played a genetically changed soldier (Max Guevera) in a post-Apocalyptic world in the cult TV favorite Dark Angel. This show ran for two seasons and she had been selected out of 1200 candidates by writer/director James Cameron. The show was canceled in 2002. Alba’s popularity remained at a high level in spite of the low box office ranking of two of her movies “The Sleeping Dictionary” and “Honey”. Her appeal is set to go up further with her role in Sin City and her upcoming theatrical releases. She is due to appear as the Invisible woman in the superhero film Fantastic Four this summer. She is also appearing in Into the Blue, which is about some scuba divers finding a valuable sunken wreck. During the first season of Dark Angel, Alba was nominated for a Golden Globe for "Lead Actress in a Drama Series" (TV). Her acting talent has always placed her on top of the listings in Hollywood. © Copyright JessicaAlbaWorld.com
