Jessica Simpson And Nick Lachey

In spite of the fact that Jessica Simpson 25, and Nick Lachey, 32, had fallen madly in love and had a wonderful married life, they have announced that they are parting ways. The official statement says that they have considered the matter carefully and after three years of marriage they have planned to go in separate directions. The statement further mentions that they have a lot of regard and esteem for each other and that this decision has been taken mutually by them.

Their marital discord and tensions had been the subject of rumors in recent months with media reports that they had split about a month back but this was denied by the spokespeople of the couple.

Jessica and Nick had met for the first time at the Christmas Parade in Hollywood in 1998. She was the bumbling but lovable blonde and he was in the pop group called 98 Degrees and looking like a Rust-belt everyman. They had fallen madly in love, especially Nick, who said that "I watched her sing and saw the way people responded."

Nick had made up his mind that he was going to marry Jessica in just a few weeks after meeting her and he proposed to her in February 2002 aboard a yacht in Hawaii. Their lavish marriage took place on Oct. 26, 2002, in Austin, Texas and they spent most of their new life at their home in Calabasas, California.

The couple had broken up briefly in 2001 before they had got married but they had reunited after the Sept 11 terrorist attacks. Jessica felt that Nick had been patiently waiting for her to grow up more and that she was sure that she would always be by the side of Nick for “the rest of my life.”
